Continuing Education
The California Association of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (CAADAC) is one of the largest AODA counseling certification and membership organization in California. Since its origination in 1979, it has conferred certification upon thousands of counselors who have successfully treated clients struggling with the disease of addiction. CAADAC counselors are recognized for their professional training and education in the field of alcoholism and drug abuse and are considered experts in treatment and treatment management.
 
CAADAC believes in the value of investing in your education prior to and beyond certification.  If you are interested in continuing education opportunities there are various providers and schools that you can attend as well as online education opportunities. View the Providers here.
 
The Commission of Alcohol and Drug Counselor Education Programs (CADCEP) was the committee that reviews educational institutes Alcohol and Drug Counseling Programs, courses, and Continuing Education Providers for CAADAC. However, the functions of CADCEP have been redirected to our new foundation the California Foundation for Advancement of Addiction Professionals. (CFAAP) It is CFAAP responsibility to assure that the standards of education, training, skills and expertise meet the California Certification Board for Alcohol and Drug Counselors. (CCBADC) requirements for counselor certification.

“Each approved provider may request an email blast (no more than twice per year) for an upcoming training they are offering.  The training must be CAADAC/CFAAP approved and must be in collaboration with the regional calendar of events, which you may contact the regional director to schedule.  The training must benefit our members as well as the public.  The blast must be reviewed and approved by the office.  We reserve the right to refuse to offer this service without reason and may cancel it at anytime.  Additionally, the request must be submitted a minimum of 8 weeks in advance.  All eblasts require a flyer (PDF) camera ready.  Email requests to freedomadmin@caadac.org put "blast request" in the subject line please.  We will not disclose the number of emails going out, provide lists or provide any member/certificant information to providers and providers must have submit an email address and phone number to include in the body of the email.  The email will be sent on your behalf. CAADAC is not responsible for enrollment and provider shall hold CAADAC/CFAAP harmless, per the hold harmless agreement on the application for approval.”
